Koh Tao (Turtle Island) is one of the most popular diving destinations in the world. This small island in the Gulf of Thailand is surrounded by coral reefs, underwater pinnacles, and rock formations that attract an incredible diversity of marine life. More divers are certified here than anywhere else on the planet. From Koh Samui, you can reach Koh Tao by speedboat in 1.5-2 hours, allowing a full dive trip in a single day.

Top site
Chumphon Pinnacle
The king of Koh Tao dive sites. A group of massive granite rocks rising from 36 meters to 14 meters from the surface. Home to huge schools of bigeye trevally creating a 'wall' of silver fish. Whale sharks appear regularly in season (March—September). At depth, reef sharks, giant groupers, and rays reside. Strong currents bring nutrients, attracting pelagic predators.

Southwest Pinnacle
Seven underwater rocks southwest of Koh Tao, covered with vibrant anemones and soft corals. Top at 6 meters, bottom at 26 meters. One of the most photogenic dive sites in the region. Pink and purple anemones with clownfish, huge moray eels peeking from crevices, schools of barracuda at depth. In season (April—June) whale sharks can also be spotted here.

White Rock (Hin Khao)
The most visited dive site on Koh Tao — and for good reason. Two large boulders with coral gardens at depths from 2 to 22 meters. Perfect for night diving — porcupinefish, crabs, shrimp, and octopuses hunt here. During the day you can spot turtles, angelfish, butterflyfish, triggerfish, and green moray eels. Suitable for all diver levels. Currents are usually mild.

Unique
Twins (Nang Yuan Pinnacle)
Two underwater boulders between Nang Yuan islands and Koh Tao. Depth from 2 to 18 meters. 'Twins' is an underwater garden with incredible coral diversity: table, staghorn, brain, and fire corals. Between the boulders is a sandy bottom where rays and reef sharks often rest. Excellent visibility, mild currents, vivid colors — perfect for underwater photography and training.

Japanese Garden
A coral garden at the base of Nang Yuan island. A gentle slope from 2 to 16 meters depth, studded with hard corals and anemones. Perfect for snorkeling and beginner divers. Home to schools of butterflyfish, clownfish in anemones, blue tangs, parrotfish, and cornetfish. Calm water, excellent visibility — the best spot for a first dive or relaxed reef drift.

Shark Island (Hin Pae)
A rocky islet shaped like a shark's fin at the southern tip of Koh Tao. Underwater — steep slopes covered with soft corals, gorgonians, and sponges. Depth from 2 to 22 meters. The east side features a wall with cracks where moray eels and crabs hide. The west side has a gentler slope with anemone gardens. One of the best places to encounter sea turtles — hawksbill and green turtles feed here regularly.

Batfish & fish schools
Longfin batfish are among the most recognizable reef inhabitants of Koh Tao. Curious and friendly, they approach divers at arm's length. Schools of fusiliers, jacks, and rainbow runners create a silver backdrop on every dive.

Lionfish & moray eels
Lionfish with their luxurious fan-like fins are true underwater photography models. Giant moray eels peek from crevices with gaping toothy mouths. On night dives, lionfish hunt in flashlight beams — one of the most spectacular nocturnal sights.
